Some important information that you need to know:
-You are allowed to bring TWO suitcases. One suitcase is for
your personal clothing and one suitcase will be used for ministry supplies.
During training camp, you will NOT
have access to your ministry supply suitcase, so don’t put anything that you
are going to need in that suitcase.
-Your ministry supply list can be found in your handbook. It
is very important for you to read that. There are no changes to the list. Bring what
you can on that list, you do not need to bring everything on it. When everyone
gets here, we will make sure each team has what they need for ministry.
-Everyone needs to bring a swimsuit to training camp.
Regardless if you think you will use it or not on your trip, you NEED to bring one. It will be used
during your training camp.
For girls – One piece swimsuits only
For guys – No Speedos
Would my guitar count as one of the suitcases? or should I ship it down there separately? Is there a weight limit for the suitcases?
Alex~I don’t think we’ve officially decided what we’re going to do about worship instruments yet. At some point in the near future, I think we were going to gauge interest among the team and decide from there. That way we won’t have extra luggage and such. We will keep you posted!
Hey, I wanted to add to Alex’s post about the guitar, as I would like to bring mine as well.
Today, I talked to our Church youth group (maybe 40 students between the ages of 12 and 18) about our mission, and I put out a decorated box to collect supplies. Is there a preference of a hard-sided suitcase or a duffle-bag for the supplies?
Chase~I don’t think there’s a specific preference for which type of suitcase/bag you bring as long as it’s a durable piece of luggage and that all of its contents meet the 50 pound weight limits. It’s great to hear that you’re working on collecting supply donations for our ministry!
Melissa~If you are able to fit everything you need into a hiking back pack and are able to carry it, it’s fine!
I have a bad that is like a long backpack that the army has used. It is not camo and is very durable. Any suggestions?
SORRY that is bag not bad
If you are able to bring everything you need, carry your luggage by yourself, and make sure that you’re under weight limits for luggage, any type of luggage is fine.
Do you think a guitar would fit in the overhead compartments on the plane? My grandparents mentioned something like that…
or would doing that compromize me being able to bring a back pack on the plane? It ways one carry on luggage for the plane… does that mean one baggage carry on, and a backpack (purse-type thing?)
So when you say there are no changes to the ministry supply list, does that mean that everyone should try to bring everything on the list? Could we divide it up so that everyone brings something and we know we will have everything?
Your leaders will get you a full packing/ministry supply list soon. We’re still finalizing this list. One of us will post a blog that is aimed at splitting up collection of supplies soon. If you’ve already started collecting supplies however, don’t worry. As emphasized in the literature you’ve received, do not buy these supplies. We don’t expect everyone to bring everything. You’ll be receiving communications from us soon that will most likely answer any remaining questions or subjects covered in these blog comments.
hey guitars will fit in some overhead compartments, and not others. in some cases they will have a closet you can put it in if the guitar will not fit in the overhead compartment. hope this helps.
Okay cool… thanks Alex! =)
What about like a hiking back pack? Is that ok?
