Today is May 20th 2008. I am getting ready to set off to Peru in just over 3 weeks. My church youth group has a box placed in our youth room collecting materials for the mission.
But time is winding down. My heart is racing faster and faster every day. I know my Prayer team is praying for me, you and God’s people we’ll serve along the Amazon.
I’m very excited to see what life is like in another country. However I find myself being quite nervous. It’ll be my summer before college.
I’ll be thousands of miles away from all my friends. Friends like Jeremy and John that I’ve had for over 10 years.
I know nobody going on this trip. This past Spring Break I made some new friends.
Things click instantly and after a week, and it was sad to split.
Will I make new friends? Or perhaps be alone for a month of my life?
I find myself thinking about these questions during random hours of the day. I can not express how happy I will be after these questions are answered.
My goal for the mission is to make a difference by bringing God to the people living along the Amazon. The goal I have set for myself on this trip is to set my life on track. I want to be goal oriented in college so that it will lead me to have a successful life after graduation. I hope our trip goes well!
Enjoy your Memorial day everyone!
