Worship.  The act of giving it ALL to God.  However, I never fully understood that.  I thought I was giving it all to God.  I used my gifts to praise God.  What I didn’t realize was that “praising” didn’t just have to be in the form of music.  Worship is not only a song played for the church to sing to God, but for me as well.  I learned, at a recent worship conference,  that giving it ALL to God is not caring about what others may think of you, not letting anything of this world stand in your way, but letting your complete focus (heart, mind, and soul) be on God.  “I will praise You with my whole heart; Before the gods I will sing praises to You.” (Psalm 138: 1).

I discovered, by the Grace of God, that I can worship in multiple ways: through prayer, reading His word, and music, at any time.  “From the rising of the sun to its going down the Lord’s name is to be praised.” (Psalm 113: 3) But, true worship happens when your heart sings to God.  God knows your heart, He knows everything about you. Worship doesn’t have to be grand and in front of a huge crowd of people.  No, worship is between you and God; only God.

My whole definition of Worship was redefined.  Dissected and the puzzle pieces of all my past trials placed back in the right order.  It was like God placed me at that worship conference for that exact purpose.  I knew I was where God wanted me.  Everything clicked, fit perfectly.  I now had the key to the test.  And what I wanted most of all, was to share it with everyone around me.  I wanted everyone to experience that powerful connection you feel with God when you are giving it ALL to Him.  The feeling of Him all around you makes you want to fall to your knees in worship.  I can only pray that others are able to experience this level of worship like I did.

This simple realization of Worship = prayer = the Word of God, furthered my walk with God to a level I never knew was possible to reach.  I now look forward to new trials that God places on my plate, because I know He will get me through, and I know it will help me get even closer to Him. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.  Becoming closer to the only source of hope and love.  Just knowing that He loves me unconditionally, and I can worship Him in return!  Worshiping God should be a way of showing God that we love Him and want to be closer to Him.  Not a way to gain glory for yourself.  As a worship leader, equipped with this knowledge and understanding of worship, I can assist the body of Christ in their own worship to Our Lord.  All the while worshiping God myself!

Psalms 42. Psalm 92: 1-4.
